Macao.

Most Illustrious and Most Excellent Sir,
This Council have to perform the painful duty of reporting to your Excellency the death of the Most Excellent Governor of this Province, the Councillor Pedro Alexandrino da Cunha, which occurred here at half past three o'clock in the afternoon of the 6th Instant, after hardly twelve hours duration.
By this fatal event, the Government of the Province has again devolved upon this Council,
and they hasten to assure
Your Excellency that they desire nothing
than to maintain
the same
friendly relations which have hitherto
